Comparison of Lumbar Strain in Manual Therapists by Height of Hi-lo Treatment Table using Electromyography and Motion Analysis
■ 概要
Occupational low back pain has been reported to be common among manual therapists. We used electromyographic analysis (EMG) and motion analysis to objectively measure load on the lumbar region in manual therapists during treatment to investigate whether adjusting the height of manual therapists hi-lo treatment tables reduces the load on their lumbar region.
The results suggested that when the manual therapists used a hi-lo treatment table at a height lower than Therapist's body height * 0.312 cm, lumbar muscle activity and perceived strain increased. To prevent low back pain, it is also important for manual therapists to pay attention to their thoracic tilt angle, which changes according to the height of the treatment table.
