  Cultivating Diversity through Rhizome-based Childcare Management: Exploring ECCE Curriculums Based on Kurashi and Creativity in Japan

  This study examined how a rhizome-based curriculum with kurashi (everyday life) at its center promotes creativity and diverse participation, using ume-shigoto in a five-year-old class at a certified childcare center as a case. Through observation, interviews, and documentation review, the study found that seasonal practices extended across scientific inquiry, sensory exploration, language and expression, inter-age relationships, and connections with families and the community. The findings suggest that a rhizome-based curriculum can function as an open, multidirectional learning structure that emerges through interactions, seasonal cues, and educators' situated decisions, highlighting the potential of kurashi as a living pedagogical resource in ECCE management.
